AnDevCon is loaded with special events, including, for the first time, Fireside Chats: An Android Career Panel. While the Fireside Chats aren't new to the program, the topic is and will highlight three leading Android developers in the community. The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7:00 pm, immediately following the Networking Reception.
The event, led by Steven Max Patterson, project manager and journalist for IDG, features three short talks by experienced Android developers on how they built their careers around Android. Employers seem to exclusively target senior Android developersm, and though there are fewer Android developers than are needed, the first three years can be challenging for talented developers starting down the Android path.
In the three talks, the speakers will talk about how they became interested in Android, how they built their careers, and got their first job. They will touch on important decisions made, jobs they accepted and activities they engaged in such as side and open-source community projects, github projects and public engagements.
The speakers are:
Senior Android Engineer at Twitter
Joaquim is a self-described Android fanatic working at Twitter. Creator of Falcon Pro, Flyne and Hacked. He attended Grande Ecole d'Ingénieurs des Sciences et Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication.
Tech Lead at Uber
Google Developer Expert
Ty previously worked for Evernote and Twitter. He is a Google Developer Expert and organizes the SF Android Meetup. He is also a member of Specialized Typed, a technically driving group that helps startups and coinvests with VCs. He attended the University of Texas.
Android Geek and Developer at Intel
Murat is a code geek, open-source committer, Java Champion and Google Developer Expert. He is the author of "Expert Android Studio" and "Professional Java EE Design Patterns." He organizes GDG San Francisco. Murat attended the Istanbul Technical University.
The talks will be followed by a Fireside Chat to explore the most salient points of the talks. Questions from the audience are encouraged.
